Managing Consultant, Supplychain Consult Ghana Limited

 

Mr. Basil Ahiable currently the Managing Consultant of Supplychain Consult Limited, is a seasoned Procurement and Supply Chain Management Specialist. He is also the Interim Chairman of Ghana Institute of Procurement Supply, working together with his team towards the attainments of ‘Practicing License Status’ through the Parliament of Ghana for Procurement and Supply Chain Practitioners in the Country.

In 2013 Mr. Basil Ahiable was appointed by HE the President of the Republic of Ghana to serve as a Board Member of the Public Procurement Authority of Ghana and chaired the Technical Committee of the Board for six years. Among his many accomplishments is his significant contribution to the Bill seeking to amend the Public Procurement Act 2006, (Act 663) to address current practicing challenges. He also had numerous opportunities to advice the Presidency on Procurement matters.

He is a well-known face at International Procurement Conferences and Workshops and has contributed immensely to the development of Public Procurement especially in capacity building, procurement planning and strategy, evaluation and monitoring of multi million dollar projects at home and abroad. He has prepared and presented several papers at international seminars, workshops and conferences on procurement in several African countries.

In 2004, Mr. Ahiable obtained a Masters degree in Business Administration (Finance Option) from University of Ghana. He also holds a Certificate in World Bank’s Works, Consultancy and Goods Procurement Management from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and many other internationally recognized certificates.

In recognition of his excellence in Supply Chain Management, he was awarded FELLOWSHIP (FCIPS) of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, UK.

Mr. Ahiable’s professional working experience spans from his days as a Procurement Supervisor at Ghana Civil Aviation Authority in 1995. In 2002 he joined SHELL Africa and worked in various capacities in the Contracting and Procurement department. Before his exit from Shell in 2012, he had risen to the position of Contracting and Procurement Manager responsible for West, Central and East Africa regions. In the same year, after his exit, he founded Supplychain Consult Ghana Limited.

He has more than fifteen (15) years experience of Procurement in World Bank financed projects. These include both Procurement and Supply operations and Capacity Building of client’s staff in World Bank Procurement Procedures. He has led in the development of complex Procurement strategies for multi- million dollar projects for the bank.
Basil is a great family man and widely travelled, a sports enthusiast and love to read during his leisure hours.
